The 2-0 Wolfpack opened the season at New Orleans with a victory, and followed with a win last Saturday against High Point at Reynolds Coliseum on campus.
NCSU prepared for playing at the RBC Center by practicing there on Monday, to get reacquainted with shooting at the bigger arena.
Winthrop has won the last four Big South Conference titles and eight out of the last 10. The Eagles only allowed 58.5 points per game, the eighth lowest mark in the NCAA last year, and just 39.6 percent shooting from the field, which was 20th in the country.
Winthrop's season came to an end in the NCAA Tournament, losing 71-40 to Washington State.
Sophomore power forward Charles Corbin and junior wing Mantoris Robinson return from last year's starting lineup.
The Eagles (1-3 overall) have been bolstered by 6-foot-6 junior forward Cameron Stanley, a Wake Forest transfer. The Raleigh native scored 20 points in a 97-70 loss to Davidson last Friday, and he also had 17 points in a 72-58 loss at Akron on Nov. 18.
Winthrop's lone win was against North Greenville, 67-42, in its home opener, and the Eagles also fell 86-63 at South Carolina.
