Matt's weekly matters: Dave Doeren has done well with transfers
In the middle of the night Tuesday, McNeese State cornerback graduate transfer Darion Dunn announced that he was going to matriculate at NC State after entering the transfer portal in September.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder was a preseason FCS All-American in 2020 before that division chose to wait until the spring to play football this year. Dunn is very likely not to be the last Wolfpack target in the transfer portal.
Given the uniqueness of the season and frozen eligibility, the transfer portal is expected to be very active before the 2021 season. In addition to Dunn, there are at least three other known players with Wolfpack offers. (Details can be found in Friday’s War Room).
It’s worth taking a look back at players from the past that Dave Doeren brought to Raleigh via transfer, because the results should leave fans optimistic about Dunn and potentially others joining the Wolfpack.
Here are the former transfers, listed in alphabetical order.
