Gonzalez picked the Pack over offers from Duke, Minnesota, Purdue, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and West Virginia, among others. NCSU was Gonzalez’s first Power Five offer.

Gonzalez’s Nike Rating of 80.85 at the Opening in Charlotte was fifth best among offensive linemen in attendance. Checking in at 6-foot-5, 275 pounds, he was laser-timed at 5.42 seconds in the 40-yard dash and clocked the shuttle in 4.77 seconds. He also had an impressive 30.7-inch vertical leap.

Gonzalez became NC State’s sixth in-state commitment in the 2018 class. He joined receiver Jasiah Provillon from Irvington (N.J.) High in announcing his commitment Saturday. NCSU has 12 verbal commitments overall.
