Wolfpack announce personnel changes for spring
NC State released its spring organizational chart and announced several personnel moves ahead of spring practice, which begins March 17 and concludes April 16 with the Kay Yow Spring Game at Carter-Finley Stadium.
The most notable position changes were rising redshirt sophomore Dean Haynes from running back to safety, rising sophomore D.J. Green from safety to strongside linebacker and rising redshirt sophomore Everett Proctor from safety to receiver.

Haynes rushed 83 times for 320 yards and three touchdowns as a part-time starter at running back last fall, but he was recruited to play defensive back at NC State. Haynes moved to running back last fall out of necessity to help fill a void at the position.
Green had 16 tackles as a true freshman and recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for a touchdown against Cincinnati. Green, 6-foot-4, 214 pounds, has always been the subject of speculation that he would move to linebacker because of his size.
He is listed first string on the organizational chart. Last year's starter at strongside linebacker, rising fifth-year senior Audie Cole, is listed first-string middle linebacker, replacing the departed Nate Irving.
Proctor was recruited to NC State as a quarterback, but due to a shoulder injury had to move to safety. After failing to crack the depth chart there, Proctor will get a look at receiver this spring. Proctor had limited experience playing receiver in high school at Jack Britt in Fayetteville.
Rising sophomore cornerback David Amerson and rising redshirt junior corner C.J. Wilson have switched sides of the field. Amerson will now line up at the field corner while Wilson takes the boundary.
Running back Curtis Underwood and punter Andy Leffler are no longer on the roster. An NC State official confirmed with The Wolfpacker that Underwood is likely transferring.
