NC State coach Wes Moore knows what his team is capable of.
NC State was able to get a signature 94-81 road win at Iowa on Dec. 1 this season. NCSU also had a 63-51 road win at Louisville (Jan. 22), and home wins over Notre Dame (Jan. 29) and North Carolina (Feb. 16).
What Moore isn’t sure about is the availability of junior guard Diamond Johnson, who has been injured since the comeback overtime win vs. UNC.
The streaky Johnson is averaging 12.3 points and 3.5 assists per game, and sis shooting 41.6 percent from the field and 36.2 percent on three-pointers. She had gone a combined 11 of 47 from the field over her last four games before the injury. Even so, the Wolfpack eight scholarship players without her. Sophomore guard Aziaha James’ role has been altered in replacing Johnson.
The Wolfpack earned the No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament and play No. 10-seeded Princeton on Friday in Salt Lake City, Utah. Princeton went 23-5 overall and 12-2 in the Ivy League.
