Bailey (N.C.) Southern Nash High’s three-star athlete Jackson Vick shines on both sides of the football, but this spring he’s been really impressing at running back. Through five contests, Vick has rushed 108 times for 833 yards and 11 touchdowns.

This comes a year after the 6-foot, 175-pounder ran 99 times for 937 yards and 11 scores in helping Southern Nash reach a state title game.

Yet it’s on defense where many schools, including NC State, prefer Vick.

As a sophomore, Vick had 26 tackles, four interceptions and seven pass breakups.

“I don’t have a preference,” Vick said. “I feel like I am a long-term defensive player, but I could change my mind.”

Ultimately, which position Vick desires to play could have an impact on his choice of a college.

“It just depends on how I look at my future, and what I want to do, and how that school produces that position,” Vick noted.

As for schools, NC State is among a strong in-state flavor of offers.
