NC State signee Terquavion Smith piling up honors

NC State’s trio of incoming basketball recruits are all done with their high school seasons, and the honors have flowed in, notably for an in-state scorer.

Future Wolfpack guard Terquavion Smith from Farmville (N.C.) Central High was named the state’s Player of the Year by both MaxPreps.com and the North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association.

On Tuesday, it was announced that Smith (6-foot-3, 175 pounds) has been selected to play in the Allen Iverson Roundball Classic, held May 7-8 in Memphis, Tenn.

Smith helped Farmville Central win a third straight 2-A state title but nearly having a triple double (33 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds) in the championship contest. He was named the game’s MVP.

Smith unofficially averaged 27.2 points per game as a senior. Rivals.com ranks him four starts and the No. 100 prospect nationally int he 2021 class.

Reidsville (N.C.) High guard Breon Pass joined Smith on the NCBCA first-team all-state.

Pass finished the hoops season averaging 32.6 points, 12.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.6 blocks per game, while shooting 70.9 percent from the field, 54.0 percent on threes and 87.3 percent on the line. He was named his conference’s player of the year and was one of 50 finalists for the SI All-American Team.
