GREENSBORO — NC State senior point guard signee Camren Hayes knew his team was down two points, and calmly pulled up to drain the three-pointer with a little over nine seconds left in the game.

Hayes and Greensboro (N.C.) Day got the much-needed defensive stop and topped Concord (N.C.) Cannon School 73-72 on Nov. 22. The play by Hayes was something he likely wouldn’t have tried last year, but was the shining moment in his 26-point effort.
