NC State guard Braxton Beverly to transfer to Eastern Kentucky

NC State senior guard Braxton Beverly entered the transfer portal Tuesday morning with one year of eligibility remaining.

The native of Hazard, Ky. will graduate from NC State this spring and transfer to Eastern Kentucky University according to his Instagram page.

Beverly, a 6-0, 185-pound combo guard, was a four-year starter for the Wolfpack but saw his role evolve to coming off the bench in his last two seasons due to injuries and roster makeup.

Beverly scored his 1,000th career point at NC State in the Pack's loss to Syracuse in the second round of the 2021 ACC Tournament. He became the 50th player in Wolfpack basketball history to join the 1,000-point club and leaves the program with 1,012 career points.

Beverly gained a reputation as one of the ACC's most-lethal three-point shooters.

He shot a blistering 38.5 percent from deep during his freshman campaign in 2017-18 but saw his three-point shooting average drop to 34.7 and 37.3 percent during his sophomore and junior seasons, respectively.

With a smaller body of work during the 2020-21 season that was heavily impacted by COVID, Beverly saw his lowest volume from three last season (80 attempts) but registered his career-best shooting average from beyond the arc (40 percent).

Beverly had 218 three-point field goal makes during his four years in Raleigh and leaves NC State tied with former Pack guard Archie Miller for the fourth-most all-time makes from the perimeter.

In 2020-21. Beverly started 15 of the Pack's 23 games and averaged seven points, 2.6 assists, 1.2 rebounds and one steal per contest.
