NC State football commitments in action — Week 6

Here are the latest updates on NC State football commitments, with the pledges from Florida getting back onto the field this week after an extended absence due to Hurricane Irma:

Three-star defensive back commit Tyler Baker-Williams caught six passes for 102 yards and two touchdowns for Southeast Raleigh High, but it was not enough in a 33-27 loss at Raleigh Millbrook. He also intercepted a pass on a fake field goal attempt.

Southeast Raleigh fell to 3-3. Baker-Williams has 19 receptions for 401 yards and four touchdowns, and 19 rushes for 203 yards on the season.

Three-star receiver Devin Carter made the most of his opportunities for Clayton (N.C.) High in its 46-8 home win over Cary (N.C.) High. He caught two passes for 75 yards, both touchdowns, to help the Comets improve to 6-0.

For the season, Carter has 14 receptions for 358 yards and six scores, and eight rushes for 70 yards and two additional touchdowns.

Charlotte Harding, featuring three-star safety Malik Dunlap, rebounded from its first loss of the season by winning 45-21 at home over city-rival West Mecklenburg High to improve to 5-1. MaxPreps.com rates Harding No. 4 in the 4-A classification.

Kicker Christopher Dunn made all seven of his extra-point attempts to help lead Lexington (N.C.) North Davidson High to an easy 49-0 win over visiting China Grove (N.C.) South Rowan, improving North Davidson to 4-1.

The Black Knights are ranked No. 7 in Class 2A by MaxPreps.com.

Lineman Derrick Eason and Norfolk (Va.) Norview High fell to 1-3 with a 20-12 loss at city-rival Lake Taylor High.

Mebane (N.C.) Eastern Alamance High is 5-0 after getting a close, 14-10 home win over visiting McLeansville (N.C.) Northeast Guilford High. Three-star offensive tackle Gabriel Gonzalez helped the offense pile up 235 yards, including 101 on the ground with an average of 4.6 yards per carry.

Appomattox (Va.) County High is 3-1 after winning at Ringgold (Va.) Dan River High on Friday night, 34-21. Three-star corner commit De’Von Graves caught a 23-yard pass in the victory. Appomattox is the top-ranked 2A team in the state by MaxPreps.com.

Orlando (Fla.) Jones High and three-star lineman Devin Hayes are sitting at 3-1 after a 56-0 home rout of Agape Christian Academy, also from Orlando. MaxPreps.com’s Class 5A rankings has Jones rated at No. 3.

Four-star quarterback Devin Leary completed 11 of 17 passes for 280 yards and five touchdowns with one interception to help Sicklerville (N.J.) Timber Creek improve to 4-0 with an easy 45-7 win at Mullica Hill (N.J.) Clearview High.

Timber Creek is the top-ranked team in New Jersey South Group 3 according to MaxPreps.com.

Though four games, Leary has completed 57 of 91 passes (62.6 percent) for 1,065 yards and 12 touchdowns with three interceptions while rushing 17 times for 122 yards.

Three-star defensive tackle commit Davontae McCrae lined up at left tackle for Miami Northwestern High and credited himself with 13 pancake blocks during a 14-7 win at city-rival Booker T. Washington High. Northwestern is 3-0 and ranked No. 3 in the class 6A rankings by MaxPreps.com.

Three-star running back Trent Pennix ran 10 times for 56 yards to help Raleigh Sanderson improve to 4-2 with a 21-7 home win over city-rival Enloe High.

Through six games, Pennix has rushed 94 times for 554 yards and eight scores, and caught 17 passes for 173 yards and two more touchdowns.

Four-star running back Ricky Person scored six touchdowns — five rushing and one receiving — to lead Wake Forest (N.C.) Heritage High to a 52-7 thrashing of Holly Springs (N.C.) High on the road, improving Heritage to 6-0. Person ran 20 times for 243 yards and caught two passes for 40 yards.

Heritage is ranked No. 3 in the state 4-A rankings by MaxPreps.com. On the season, Person has 118 rushes for 1,228 yards and 20 scores and 11 catches for 182 yards and two touchdowns.

Irvington (N.J.) High suffered its first loss of the season in three games when it travelled to Smyrna (Del.) High and fell 30-18. Entering the contest, three-star receiver Jasaih Provillon had caught nine passes for 107 yards and a touchdown.

Three-star tight end Daevon Robinson caught four passes for 43 yards and ran three times for 13 yards to help Medford (N.J.) Shawnee improve to 2-1 with a 19-6 home win over Sewell (N.J.) Washington Township High.

Through three games, Robinson has 14 receptions for 250 yards and a score, and he has also added one rushing touchdown.

Three-star corner Teshaun Smith and Davie (Fla.) Western High are 3-0 after their 43-0 home rout of visiting Pembroke Pines (Fla.) Flanagan High. Smith had an interception in the victory. MaxPreps.com ranks Western No. 11 in Class 8A.
