NC State confirmed Thursday afternoon that sophomore forward Maverick Rowan will leave the program.

Sources close to Rowan had indicated to The Wolfpacker that Rowan's intention is not to transfer to another school but rather pursue a professional career, including potentially overseas. Rowan himself confirmed with Jon Rothstein of Fan Rag Sports Network that he will enter his name into the NBA Draft but not hire an agent.

Rowan averaged 12.0 points a game as a sophomore after contributing 12.9 points per contest during his freshman season. The noted shooter set a school record for threes by a freshman with 81 during his rookie campaign, and he added 53 more this year in a season shortened by seven games due to a concussion.

Rowan is the second NC State player this offseason to announce he is leaving. Earlier, freshman point guard Dennis Smith Jr. declared for the draft where he is expected to be a lottery pick. Freshman center Omer Yurtseven is also testing the NBA Draft waters.
