GREENVILLE — The No. 13-ranked NC State Wolfpack have been practicing and practicing ever since December 2021, but finally get to play a game.

NC State travels to East Carolina on Saturday, with the game on ESPN. NCSU went 9-3 last year and ECU went 7-5, and the Pirates also have had their bowl game canceled last year.

Devin Leary, Thayer Thomas create magic (12:39 p.m.)

Quick strike over the middle from quarterback Devin Leary to wide receiver Thayer Thomas for a 12-yard touchdown pass. NC State and ECU tied at 7-7 with 2:40 left in the first quarter.

The score was set up by Leary's deep throw to Thomas for 24 yards and a big first down on third and 14.

ECU strikes first (12:19 p.m.)

ECU struck first with a 39-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Holton Ahlers to wide receiver C.J. Johnson with 10:03 left in the first quarter. Ahlers and Johnson were prep teammates at Greenville (N.C.) Conley High.
