Listed by NC State at 6-foot-3 and 195 pounds. At Nike Camp in Charlotte last March, was 6-3 ½, 200 pounds and ran the shuttle in 4.41 seconds. Added a 32.0-inch vertical leap.

Stats:

• Senior: 99 catches for 1,387 yards and 18 touchdowns

• Junior: 69 catches for 1,101 yards and 11 touchdowns

• Sophomore: 57 catches for 1,014 yards and nine touchdowns

Ratings:

• Rivals.com: Three stars, No. 74 receiver in the country and No. 22 player in the state.

• Scout.com: Three stars, No. 112 receiver nationally, No. 52 receiver in the South and No. 3 receiver in the state.

• 247Sports: Three stars, No 65 receiver nationally and No. 19 player in the state.

• ESPN: Three stars, No. 111 receiver nationally and No. 19 player in the state.

Fayetteville Observer: No. 19 player in the state.

Honors/accomplishments:

• Picked for the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas All-Star Game in Spartanburg, S.C., and caught two passes for 30 yards in the contest.

• Named all-state for 3-A classification by NCPreps.com.

• Selected first-team all-region by the Charlotte Observer as a junior and senior.

• Finished career as Union County’s all-time leader in receptions (236) and receiving yards (3,584).

Recruitment:

Originally picked NC State over Wake Forest and other offers in June.

Decommitted in September after unofficially visiting East Carolina for their win over NC State.

Was only open for two weeks before re-committing to NC State and stayed firm despite a late offer from Nebraska.

Recruiter of record:

Tight ends/fullbacks coach and special teams coordinator Eddie Faulkner.

Quotable:

“Emeka is a big target down the field and over the middle. He could use a little bit better top-end speed, but he does a really good job getting off the line and down the field in a hurry. He does a pretty good job, also, coming out of his breaks. That’s how he creates a lot of his separation.” — Rivals.com recruiting analyst Adam Friedman.

Scouting report:

• Good-sized receiver with strong hands that should make him a strong red zone threat.

• Top-end speed may not be great and could project more as a possession receiver in college.

• Has been one of the most prolific receivers in the state over the past three years.

2017 projection:

Like most of the team, there is a lot of productivity from the 2016 squad expected back in 2017, but Emezie is a sleeper to find early playing time. He has natural receiving skills and size-wise should be ready to handle the physicality of college defensive backs.
