In his first four games of the season, heading into last Friday’s significant 31-14 win at Mocksville (N.C.) Davie County High, three-star defensive back Isaiah Crowell had been a standout for two-time defending 4-A state champ Kernersville (N.C.) East Forsyth High.

Crowell had 47 total tackles, including a pair for loss. He had added six QB hurries, an interception, two pass breakups, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.

Perhaps just as impressively, Crowell has been asked to take on a leadership role with the Eagles. After dropping its first two games, Crowell has helped East Forsyth rebound with three straight wins heading into its spring regular season finale at city-rival Glenn High this Friday.

“I feel like I am doing good,” Crowell noted. “We have a young team this year so they expect a lot of leadership out of me. I feel like I am doing pretty good.

“That’s a great honor [to be captain], to tell you the truth — to see that my coach sees me as a great leader for the team.”

College are noticing, too. Among those to recently express interest and talk about an offer is Ohio State.

“That’d be a big offer,” Crowell admitted.
