Redshirt junior quarterback Mike Glennon has experienced his first career start, first conference start and first road start. Now he gets his first Thursday night start.
"They are real exciting," Glennon said about ESPN's Thursday night games. "It's always a great atmosphere, national audience, it's what you come to a school like NC State, to play in these type of games.
"It usually feels like the students get in the stadium earlier. I assume they'll probably have some sort of black out or something going on out there. It's just a great atmosphere and exciting."
Glennon admits that the fact the game is nationally televised and the only game in action is in the back of everyone's heads, but he also stated that after kickoff you become consumed by the game.
He will need to be focused Thursday night because Cincinnati returns most of their starters from last year's defense and leads the country with 13 takeaway after three contests this year.
"We've watched some pretty good film on them," Glennon noted. "They've done pretty well against their opponents. They returned 10 of their 11 starters, so it's the same guys we played last year only now during year two of their coaches. We have a pretty good idea of who they are from playing them last year.
"It's exciting. They are a great opponent, Big East, they have proven themselves in the past."
Glennon's own development has been a source of optimism around NC State. He completed 24 of 41 passes for 315 yards and three touchdowns with just one pick at Wake Forest Sept. 10. Last Saturday, he was 17 of 20 for 274 yards and four touchdowns.
"I think I am getting more and more comfortable just with the offense and just everything, it seems to be more comfortable for me. We need to be more consistent. We've shown pretty of sparks in the passing game, but we haven't punched through for a full game yet."
