Utah freshman transfer Devon Daniels announced he will be making the move to NC State on Saturday.

Daniels officially visited NCSU on May 8-9, and then followed up with an official visit to San Diego State. The chance to start fresh with new NCSU head coach Kevin Keatts and to play in the ACC proved to help the Wolfpack's cause.

Daniels, who would like to major in business finance, didn’t know much about NC State prior to his official visit.

“It was great at NC State,” said Daniels in a previous interview. “The coaches have a very positive vibe and a lot of energy toward me. The facilities were nice and they had a good game plan. It was very nice.”

The 6-foot-5, 200-pound Daniels would have to sit out one year, and then have three years of eligibility. He is the fourth transfer NC State has added since Keatts took over, joining North Carolina Wilmington sophomore wing C.J. Bryce, Baylor graduate shooting guard transfer Al Freeman and North Carolina Greensboro graduate combo guard transfer Sam Hunt. Freeman and Hunt are eligible to play next season.

He was off to a solid start with the Runnin’ Utes, but then was suspended for three games, and his role was reduced for the final two contests. He departed the program March 31.

Daniels averaged 9.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game and shot an impressive 57.1 percent from the field and 71.9 percent from the line. He went 14 of 35 from three-point land. Daniels scored in double digits in 13 contests and had a season-high 24 points in a 94-72 win at Washington on Jan. 21.

NC State will be undergoing a perimeter makeover for the 2018-2019 season. Point guards Lavar Batts and Markell Johnson are the lone guards on the roster for that season, and current redshirt sophomore Torin Dorn, Daniels and Bryce will take over the wings.

Daniels was a three-star prospect coming out of Prolific Prep in Napa, Calif., where he played his senior year with Kansas star freshman small forward Josh Jackson. The two also played together with 1 Nation traveling team on the Under Armour circuit.

Daniels, who grew up in Battle Creek, Mich., previously played at Kalamazoo (Mich.) Central his first three years of high school and was part of the Michigan Mustangs program, which is sponsored by adidas. He originally picked Utah over offers from Buffalo, DePaul, Drake, Kansas State, Minnesota and UTEP.
