Derrell Scott makes unofficial to NC State

The Rivals.com No. 2-ranked all-puropse back, Derrell Scott of Havelock (N.C.) High, took an unofficial visit to NC State on Tuesday.
The 5-foot-10, 181-pounder is ranked No. 149 overall in the class of 2014, and No. 5 in the state of North Carolina.

Scott has been to NC State multiple times since the new coaching staff took over, and he has a great relationship with running backs coach Des Kitchings, who is the lone holdover from the previous staff.
Scott, who has at least 21 scholarship offers, previously attended NC State's junior day in February. The Wolfpack currently reside in Scott's top eight, but could be making a hard charge up the leaderboard.
NC State, Florida State, Ohio State, South Carolina, Oregon and Tennessee were in his previous top six in mid-June. However, Deana King of NCPreps.com, a member of the Rivals network, reported Monday on The Wolves' Den message board that NC State is one of the schools who will receive an official visit from the star.
Scott also took unofficial visits to Ohio State, Florida State and South Carolina, this past spring. Both NCSU and South Carolina have signed former Havelock High players in recent years.
Scott reportedly rushed for 1,742 yards on 181 carries and 35 touchdowns this past season in leading Havelock to a second consecutive NCHSAA 3A state title.
