NC State released its depth chart for the Tennessee game on Monday morning, and it looked pretty much as expected.
The biggest surprises were that redshirt sophomore Tony Creecy was elevated above returning starter James Washington, a senior, while redshirt sophomore Mustafa Greene checked in third on the listing.
The other change from the preseason organizational chart was that true sophomore Brandon Pittman passed classmate Rodman Noel for the starting strongside linebacker slot.
Three true freshmen made the two-deep - wide receiver Charlie Hegedus, who was listed on the third-string, and Quincy McKinney, who was listed as the No. 2 left tackle. As coach Tom O'Brien announced earlier in the preseason, rookie Manny Stocker will back up starting quarterback Mike Glennon.
The starting offensive line, from left to right, is junior Robert Crisp, senior R.J. Mattes, senior Camden Wentz, fifth-year senior Zach Allen and fifth-year senior Andrew Wallace.
Fifth-year senior Mario Carter is listed as the No. 1 tight end, followed by redshirt juniors Anthony Talbert and Asa Watson, respectively.
Redshirt junior Quintin Payton and fifth-year senior Tobais Palmer were listed as the starting wide receivers, followed by redshirt freshman Maurice Morgan and redshirt junior Rashard Smith. Hegedus and redshirt freshmen Hakeem Flowers round out the six listed out wide.
Redshirt sophomore Logan Winkles was listed as the starting fullback.
On defense, redshirt junior Darryl Cato-Bishop and senior Brian Slay are listed as the starting ends. Redshirt sophomore Thomas Teal and sophomore T.Y. McGill are starting on the interior.
In addition to Pittman, the starting linebacker corps includes redshirt senior Sterling Lucas in the middle and redshirt junior Rickey Dowdy on the weakside.
All-American junior David Amerson and junior Dontae Johnson are the starting cornerbacks, while fifth-year senior Earl Wolff and true senior Brandan Bishop are the safeties.
Fifth-year senior cornerback C.J. Wilson was not listed on the depth chart.
