NC State freshman Rodney Purvis was also selected as the Preseason ACC Rookie of the year.
This is the first year that the ACC head coaches have done a preseason poll. The media will make their preseason predictions on Wednesday during the ACC's annual Operation Basketball event in Charlotte.
"Obviously, this says a lot about the improvement of our program, but I'm well aware that it's all about how we finish, not how we're projected" coach Mark Gottfried said in a statement released by the school. "This is new territory for our players and we need to make sure we stay focused on the process of improving."
