FORT MILL, S.C. — Not many freshman play on the varsity at a prep powerhouse.

Freshman cornerback Braxton Winston is poised beyond his years and was tasked at starting for Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day. He finished with 29 tackles, seven passes defended and two interceptions in helping the Chargers win the NCISAA state title.
