Senior offensive lineman Kamen Smith earned his first Power Five Conference offer from NC State, and he eventually picked the Wolfpack.
Smith had officially visited NC State from June 16-18 leading up to his commitment.
The 6-foot-4, 280-pound Smith had earned offers from NC State, Duke, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Appalachian State, Eastern Michigan, Furman, Liberty, Navy and Gardner-Webb (where his parents played sports at).
NC State offensive line coach John Garrison and offensive coordinator Tim Beck visited Wilkesboro (N.C.) Wilkes Central High during a spring practice and immediately offered him.
The Wolfpack had Smith attend Junior Day event Jan. 30, and then returned for a spring practice March 10. Smith also unofficially visited June 2.
Wilkes Central went 3-5 last year with Smith playing tackle and on the defensive line for four of the contests. He also got fifth-place in the shot put at the NCHSAA state meet.
