NC State appears to have found its quarterback in the 2018 class: three-star Devin Leary from Sicklerville (N.J.) Timber Creek High.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder made his choice official April 6. Leary had offers from Power Five conference programs Boston College, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, Wake Forest and West Virginia. He made an unofficial visit to NC State in March.
Rivals.com rates Leary the No. 10 pro-style quarterback in the 2018 class and the No. 10 prospect among New Jersey's rising seniors.
Leary was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in New Jersey after completing 198 of 316 passes for 3,688 yards and 48 touchdown with just four interceptions his junior year. The yardage and touchdown totals were both state records.
He led Timber Creek to a 12-0 record and Group 4 state title, winning all but one game by at least three touchdowns. Leary also played baseball.
NC State now has four verbal commitments in the 2018 class. Leary joins kicker Chris Dunn from Lexington (N.C.) North Davidson High, three-star corner De'Von Graves from Appomattox (Va.) County High and four-star athlete Ricky Person Jr. from Wake Forest (N.C.) Heritage High.
