Southeast Raleigh High athlete Tyler Williams took to Twitter Monday afternoon to announce his verbal commitment to NC State. Williams had been offered by the Wolfpack on June 17 following a strong performance at its summer camp.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Williams played both ways with success last season and was also strong on special teams. He had 25 receptions for 480 yards and six touchdowns, registered a pick six and returned two punts for scores.
NCSU is recruiting Williams as a nickel/safety. He becomes the 13th pledge in the 2018 class, seventh in-state product and third native of Wake County, joining Raleigh Sanderson running back/athlete Trent Pennix and Wake Forest Heritage running back/athlete Ricky Person.
The Wolfpacker will have more on Williams' commitment in the near future.
