CHARLOTTE — Whether sophomore Ki’anthony ”KD” Smith is playing quarterback or in the secondary, he just wants to attack the play.

The 5-foot-9, 172-pounder from West Charlotte High in Charlotte, N.C., likely projects on the defensive side of the football, but he’ll play wherever it helps his team.
