NC State offered local standout Nick Farrar on Monday, and he didn’t waste time making up his mind.

The 6-foot-6, 230-pounder Farrar, rated three stars by Rivals.com, burst onto the scene during his junior year at Apex (N.C.) Friendship, averaging 18.9 points and 9.6 rebounds per game for the 22-7 Patriots. NC State assistant coach James Johnson started the evaluation process, which picked up in earnest this past June.

The power forward was then able to play at NC State’s team camp, giving head coach Kevin Keatts a chance to scout him further.

The Wolfpack finally pulled the trigger Monday with a scholarship offer. He picked NC State over Texas A&M, LSU, Houston, Cincinnati, Seton Hall, Western Kentucky, VCU and Rutgers, among others.

Last season, Farrar attended the Virginia Tech at NC State game at PNC Arena, and also the Lipscomb at NCSU contest in the NIT Tournament at Reynolds Coliseum. He additionally unofficially visited in late May.

Farrar played with Big Shots NC traveling team this spring and summer, and will remain at Apex Friendship High this year. He was able to play adidas Gauntlet Finale to close out July with Team Loaded VA, and averaged 7.3 points and 3.3 rebounds a game in three contests.

NC State has three remaining scholarships in the class of 2020. Logansville (Ga.) Grayson High senior four-star point guard Deivon Smith is scheduled to officially visit Aug. 30-Sept. 1, and four-star junior point guard Camren Hayes of Greensboro (N.C.) Day is visiting Sept. 6-8. Smith is ranked No. 44 nationally in the class of 2020 by Rivals.com, and Hayes is No. 16 overall nationally in the class of 2021.

The Wolfpack also made the top five for four-star No. 47-ranked senior power forward Henry Coleman of Richmond, Va., and four-star No. 51-ranked senior center Mark Williams of Norfolk, Va., had the Wolfpack in his top seven. NC State has already hosted No. 22-ranked senior shooting guard Cameron Thomas of Chesapeake, Va., last October.

Chicago Morgan Park senior four-star guard Adam Miller, who is ranked No. 30 nationally, has NC State in his top 10, and Cleveland (Ohio) Brush High senior four-star center John Hugley has the Wolfpack in his top 12 and is ranked No. 94 nationally.

Senior three-star point guard Shakeel Moore of Greensboro and No. 25-ranked senior five-star small forward Josh Hall of Durham, N.C., who both attend Moravian Prep in Hickory, N.C., also continue to list the Wolfpack. Both have NC State offers.

NCSU also recently offered senior four-star shooting guard Caleb Murphy of Grayson High, where he’ll play with Smith in the backcourt. He is ranked No. 134 overall in the country but is expected to get a rankings boost.

Senior No. 72-ranked four-star point guard Hassan Diarra of Putnam (Conn.) Science Academy and three-star senior center Ebenezer Dowuona of Newnan (Ga.) Heritage School have also been offered by NC State.
