NC State has added its second verbal commitment in the 2017 class within a span of three days, both of them in-state prospects from two of the state's best high school football programs..
Cornerback Jacobe Clement from Charlotte's Mallard Creek High, the three-time defending 4-AA state titlists. Clemente transferred into Mallard Creek this offseason from South Mecklenburg.
On Tuesday evening, linebacker Darius Hodge from Wake Forest (N.C.) High committed. Hodge confirmed the decision with The Wolfpacker via text message.
Hodge (6-foot-2, 245 pounds) finished his junior year with 65 tackles, nine tackles for loss and eight sacks for the 12-1 Cougars. Wake Forest had reached the title game against Mallard Creek the two previous seasons.
Hodge attended games at NC State, Notre Dame, Florida, Florida State, North Carolina, Georgia and Clemson last fall. He also went to a junior day in February and camped at NCSU last weekend.
He had earlier claimed offers from Virginia, UNC and Pittsburgh among others.
