Two players off the team, Quintin Payton injured

Head coach Tom O'Brien announced after Friday's scrimmage that a pair of redshirt freshman, wide receiver Morgan Alexander and offensive guard Denzelle Good, are no longer with the football team.
"Both Denzelle Good and Morgan Alexander are out of school," O'Brien said. "They did not live up to their expectations so they are no longer on the football team."

Both Alexander and Good were members of the 2009 recruiting class and had high expectations at NC State. Alexander, a speedster from Cartersville (Ga.) High, chose the Pack over Louisville and Indiana and quickly impressed in practices with the scout team last fall.
Good, from Gaffney (S.C.) High, was one of the more decorated members of the class. He redshirted last season while recovering from preseason shoulder surgery.
Another member of the 2009 class will not be with the team when they open the season against Western Carolina Sept. 4 at Carter-Finley Stadium. Wide out Quintin Payton had a compound dislocation of a finger suffered during a practice.
"He's definitely out for the opener," O'Brien said. "I don't know how long that's going to be."
