The Wolfpacker presents its pre-summer look at the top 10 prospects from the state of North Carolina. This is an early listing and will most likely change over the coming months.

DT DeMario Pressley {6-4, 285 pounds, 4.8 in the 40-yard dash} Dudley High School, Greensboro, NC
-Pressley is a national-caliber recruit that already boasts scholarship offers from programs around the country. Some of the early notables are NC State, UNC, Florida State, Miami, Tennessee, Notre Dame and Oklahoma. He has been reluctant to name a favorite but has listed Wake Forest, NC State, Clemson, Miami, Tennessee and Notre Dame as schools he's most interested in.
RB Andre Brown {6-1, 215 pounds, 4.5 in the 40-yard dash} Rose High School, Greenville, NC
-Brown is quickly emerging as another nationally-recognized recruit. He reports scholarship offers from Florida State, Nebraska, NC State, Maryland, Duke and East Carolina. Grew up a fan of FSU and lists the Noles, along with Georgia, NC State, Notre Dame and Nebraska in his top five.
DT Marque Hall {6-5, 310 pounds, 4.9 in the 40-yard dash} Forest Hills HS, Marshville, NC
-Most consider Hall to be only slightly behind Pressley as the state's top DT. He currently boasts scholarship offers from NC State, UNC, Tennessee, South Carolina, East Carolina and Clemson. Hall is reportedly completely open in his recruiting to all schools showing interest.
RB George Bell {5-11, 225 pounds, 4.5 in the 40-yard dash} Jack Britt High School, Fayetteville, NC
-Would probably be ranked the No. 2 prospect in the state if not for a knee injury he sustained as a junior. Questions regarding his return to 100% have led many schools to take a wait and see approach. NC State, East Carolina, Maryland and Duke have offered scholarships. Should he return to the same form he showed as a junior, look for this number to grow exponentially. Bell currently favors NC State over Miami, Michigan, Tennessee and Georgia.
DE Lemarte McGhee {6-6, 260 pounds, 5.0 in the 40-yard dash} Person High School, Roxboro, NC
-Ironically enough, McGhee committed to NC State on signing day for the class of 2003. Had early offers from the Pack and UNC in addition to heavy interest from Tennessee and Clemson. Tom Lemming called him the state's top athlete while PrepStar has nominated him for all-american status.
RB Jamaal Edwards {6-0, 196 pounds, 4.4 in the 40-yard dash} Dudley High School, Greensboro, NC
-Another in a string of top-notch RB's from the state of NC. His coach reports offers from UNC, Miami, Florida State, NC State, Virginia and Clemson among others. Reportedly he favors Florida State over UNC, NC State and others. Dudley Coach Victor Floyd says Edwards is FSU's No. 1 target at RB.
RB Albert Ashcraft {6-3, 195 pounds, 4.5 in the 40-yard dash} Monroe (NC) High School
-Ashcraft possesses good size and has earned early scholarship offers from UNC, South Carolina, East Carolina and Clemson. He also participates in track and placed first in the state last year in the 200-meter dash and fifth in the 100-meter dash. Could end up as a S in college. Favors UNC solid over Florida State, Miami, Clemson and South Carolina.
RB/DB Andrew Pearman {5-10, 162 pounds, 4.4 in the 40-yard dash} Providence High School, Charlotte, NC
-Size could be a concern for some schools but Pearman's speed is unquestioned. May be the state's fastest prospect, having run a 10.54-second 100-meter dash. Will most likely end up at DB and could be a kick and punt return specialist. He currently boasts scholarship offers from Tennessee, Duke, UNC and Wake Forest. He favors Tennessee, UNC, Duke, Wake Forest and Virginia. His brother Alvin, is a RB for Virginia.
S Martel Thatch {6-2, 180 pounds, 4.5 in the 40-yard dash} Dudley High School, Greensboro, NC
-Thatch completes the trifecta at Dudley High School. He currently boasts scholarship offers from Virginia, UNC, Clemson and South Carolina. Thatch looks like an early Cavalier lean with UNC, NC State, Wake Forest and Clemson rounding out his top five. The Pack should get a good look at Thatch this summer as he plans to camp at State in June.
RB John McEachin {5-11, 190 pounds, 4.5 in the 40-yard dash} Trinity (NC) High School
-McEachin is somewhat of a wildcard for inclusion into the top 10. He does not have any reported scholarship offers but is a super talent. Most feel that any future offers will be tied to his progress in the classroom and that number could be large should he get his academics in order. He currently favors UNC over NC State, Michigan, Wake Forest and South Carolina. Tom Lemming named McEachin the No. 23 RB in the nation.
