Pack lose some, gain some

NC State is welcoming back two players to its football team, but also lost three players in the last week.
Starting senior safety Clem Johnson hurt his thigh during last Saturday's 65-7 win over Murray State, while starting left tackle Julian Williams and reserve wide receiver Jay Smith, a redshirt sophomore, are both out this Saturday against Gardner-Webb because of the H1N1 flu.

Redshirt sophomore safety Justin Byers or freshman Brandan Bishop will fill in for Johnson. The Wolfpack are down to their third-string left tackle with redshirt freshman Andrew Wallace getting the start against the Bulldogs. Starter Jake Vermiglio got hurt during the second quarter of the South Carolina game, forcing Williams to shift from left guard to left tackle. Vermiglio is still out with a lower leg injury.
In the good news department, redshirt junior cornerback DeAndre Morgan and redshirt junior wide receiver Donald Bowens have both been cleared to play. Bowens hasn't played since the 2007 season after missing last year with a back injury, followed by knee surgery in January 2009.
