Defensive end Bradley Chubb’s senior season has not gone unnoticed. Chubb was revealed as a finalist and semifinalist for two of the most respected awards in college football.

Chubb is one of five finalists for the 2017 Bronko Nagurski Trophy, which presented annually to the nation's top defensive player by the Football Writers Association of America and the Charlotte Touchdown Club.

Alabama safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, Iowa middle linebacker Josey Jewell, Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver and Georgia outside linebacker Roquan Smith are also on the list.

He is one of 15 semifinalists for the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, one of just four defensive players to make the cut. The Walter Camp is voted on by the 130 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors. A list of five finalists will be released on Wednesday, Nov. 29, and the winner will be announced on Thursday, Dec. 7.

Chubb and Fitzpatrick are the only two to be named a Bronko Nagurski finalist and a Walter Camp semifinalist.

The only other ACC players to make the Walter Camp list were Louisville junior quarterback Lamar Jackson and Miami junior defensive back Jaquan Johnson.

Chubb leads the Football Bowl Subdivision in tackles for loss (23.5) and also has 10 sacks through 10 games. Last Saturday against Boston College he became NC State’s all-time leader in sacks (26) and tackles for loss (57.5).
