NC State lands Grant Gibson
The pipeline from Charlotte Mallard Creek to NC State continues.
This time it is four-star defensive tackle Grant Gibson, who announced his pledge on Tuesday afternoon on Twitter.
Gibson is rated four stars by Rivals.com. The 6-foot-1, 290-pounder played interior offensive line as a junior but expects to be back at his preferred defensive tackle position next season. He is also listed as the No. 17 junior defensive tackle nationally and No. 6 in the state's 2017 class.
First-team All-ACC performer Jaylen Samuels was signed from Mallard Creek by NC State in 2014. Redshirt freshman receiver-turn-corner Vernon Grier inked a year later, and in this past class four-star tight end Thaddeus Moss picked NC State.
Gibson becomes NCSU's fifth commit in the class, all of them natives from the state. Louisville had just recently offered Gibson, joining Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech and West Virginia among others.
The Wolfpacker will have more from Gibson later.
