NC State football lands coveted junior Jalen Frazier
Three-star defensive back Jalen Frazier went from relative sleeper to must-get recruit over the last year.
NC State locked up the Rivals.com three-star prospect last Wednesday, when he verbally committed to the Wolfpack over offers from Duke, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina and West Virginia among others.
The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Frazier, who Rivals.com ranks No. 30 overall in the state of North Carolina in the class of 2019, had 98 tackles in 15 games, including five for loss and a pair of sacks in his first year at Cornelius (N.C.) Hough High. Frazier added an interception that he returned 32 yards for a touchdown.
Frazier originally attended Denver (N.C.) East Lincoln High before making the move to Hough High. NC State first brought him in for an unofficial visit during January 2017, and a year later he was offered Jan. 27.
“I’m really honored to get the offer from NC State,” said Frazier in a past interview. “It was a great visit. They showed a lot of love, and they kept it real with me the whole time.”
Frazier is the fourth verbal commit for the Wolfpack in the class of 2019, joining Raleigh (N.C.) Wakefield center/guard Timothy McKay, Wilmington (N.C.) Hoggard wide receiver Chris Toudle and New London (N.C.) North Stanly long snapper Drew Little.
