NC State baseball receives a regional from the NCAA
For the second time in three years, NC State baseball is hosting a regional. The Wolfpack learned its fate Sunday evening as the NCAA announced the 16 sites that were hosting regionals.
NC State is 40-16 and finished 19-11 in the ACC, third best record in the league. However it will look to rebound after losing both of its games at the ACC Tournament in Durham, N.C.
The other regional hosts were (in alphabetical order):
• Arkansas
• Clemson
• Coastal Carolina
• East Carolina
• Florida
• Florida State
• Georgia
• Minnesota
• North Carolina
• Ole Miss
• Oregon State
• Stanford
• Stetson
• Texas
• Texas Tech
The seeding order of the regional hosts (top eight are considered national seeds and get to host a super regional if it advances) and the remainder of the field of 64 will be announced Monday morning.
Two years ago, NC State came within a strike of beating eventual national champion Coastal Carolina while hosting a regional but eventually fell in a heartbreaker. The Pack last advanced to the super regional in 2013, when it also made it to the College World Series.
