Mike Glennon to play in Senior Bowl

It was announced today that NC State fifth-year senior quarterback Mike Glennon accepted a bid to play in the 2013 Senior Bowl. The game will be played Jan. 26, 2013 at Land-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala.
Other signal callers who have already accepted an invitation to play in the contest are Florida State's EJ Manuel and Arkansas' Tyler Wilson.

Glennon finished the regular season 295-of-511 (57.7 percent) for 3,648 yards, 30 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He had a quarterback rating of 131.6, rushed for two more scores and is the only passer in school history to throw for 30 or more touchdowns in a season twice during his career.
He ranked 11th in the nation this year with an average of 304 passing yards per game, and he also finished tied for 12th in passing touchdowns.
Despite starting just 25 games over two seasons, he ranks among the program's best in several categories. Glennon is third in school history with 62 touchdown passes; trailing all-time greats Philip Rivers (95 in 41 starts) and former teammate Russell Wilson (76 in 36).
Glennon's final campaign is also among the finest in school history. With the Music City Bowl still to play, his 3,648 passing yards is the second-best single-season total, behind Rivers' 4,491 in 2003. His 30 touchdown throws is the fourth-best total in program annals, behind just Rivers (34 in 2003), Wilson (31 in 2009) and his own total of 31 last season.
His 295 completions rank third behind Wilson (308 in 2010) and Rivers (348 in 2003), while his 511 attempts trails just Wilson's 527 in 2010. NC State coaches counted 35 drops during the course of the season, which means if his receivers had caught just half of those passes that were dropped, his completion percentage would've risen to 61 percent.
Glennon is also ranked in the program's top five for every major career passing category, including passing yards, completions, attempts, completion percentage, 300-yard games, passing efficiency and total offense. He should be one of the first quarterbacks selected in the 2013 NFL Draft, held April 25-27 in New York City.
ESPN draft guru Mel Kiper, Jr. ranks Glennon as the No. 3 senior quarterback in the land, behind USC's Matt Barkley and West Virginia's Geno Smith.
