Letter of intent No. 3: Three-star defensive back Tanner Ingle

Measurables:

At the Nike Camp in Orlando was 5-foot-9, 180 pounds and laser-timed at 4.50 seconds in the 40-yard dash … Had a 4.15-second shuttle, a 34.0-foot power ball throw and a 35.0-inch vertical leap for an overall rating of 105.06, 26th best at the event.

Stats:

• Senior: Made 101 tackles, including a sack, a fumble recovery and five pass breakups and averaged 24.6 yards per kickoff return on eight runbacks.

• Junior: Piled up 76 tackles, including 10 for loss, two interceptions (one pick six), eight pass breakups and set a school-record six kick returns for touchdowns ... Averaged 19.7 yards on 12 punt returns and 35.2 yards on eight kickoff returns.

• Sophomore: Had 72 tackles and six interceptions.

Ratings:

• Rivals.com: Three stars and No. 47 athlete in the country.

• 247Sports: Three stars, No. 111 cornerback in the country and No. 201 player in the state.

• ESPN: Three stars, No. 56 cornerback in the country and No. 119 player in the state.

Honors/accomplishments:

• Helped lead Dr. Phillips to an 8A (largest classification) state title as a senior.

• Invited to play in the Central Florida All-Star Game.

• Was first-team The Associated Press All-State, All-Central Florida, FACA All-District and all-conference as a junior.

• Selected by the Orlando Sentinel as the “Breakout Player of the Year” in 2016.

• Also runs track and was conference champion in the long jump as a junior.

Recruitment:

Had offers from Boston College, Maryland, Missouri, NC State, Rutgers, Stanford, Syracuse, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Wisconsin from Power Five teams.

Originally committed to Tennessee on June 19, but decommitted following a coaching change in Knoxville.

Verbally committed to the Wolfpack on Dec. 12.

• Excellent athlete and playmaker.

• Could project at any position in the defensive secondary, including nickel which is where he may first start his career.

• Biggest question mark will be his size.

2017 projection:

If Ingle can adapt to the defense and play nickel quickly, he has a chance to see the field early given his athleticism and special teams skills.
