Nakia Robinson from Jackson High in Miami, Fla., was supposed to visit for the Alpha Wolf Showcase Friday evening, but he could not make the trip. Nevertheless, everything he has heard from his recruiter, receivers coach George McDonald, and future position coach, Des Kitchings, convinced him that NC State was the place for him.

He announced his pledge on Twitter Saturday afternoon and confirmed it with The Wolfpacker in a phone interview.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound Robinson also had offers from Appalachian State, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Idaho, Navy, Southern Miss, Temple and Utah State. Most schools recruited him as a running back, but some liked him as an athlete. NCSU recruited him for RB.

Robinson played more defense than offense last fall but will play both ways more extensively this season. Robinson also runs hurdles in track.

He is NCSU’s 14th verbal commitment and sixth from the talent-rich state of Florida.
