NC State was hoping to add its defensive backfield in its 2018 class, and it got a key prospect on Tuesday evening when three-star Tanner Ingle from Dr. Phillips High in Orlando, Fla., tweeted out his commitment to the Pack.

The 5-foot-10, 185-pound Ingle had verbally committed to Tennessee over the summer, but reopened his recruitment after the Vols fired head coach Butch Jones and subsequently hired Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt.

He made an official visit to NC State on Dec. 1, and then helped Dr. Phillips win a state title this past weekend in the 8A (highest in Florida) classification.

Ingle recorded 88 tackles, five stops for loss, a sack, two passes broken up and a fumble recovery in 10 games this season, and averaged 27.0 yards on his six kickoff returns. He also returned six punts for an average of 8.8 yards, and rushed nine times for 44 yards and a score.

Ingle is rated by Rivals.com as the No. 47 athlete in the country, and he gives the Pack 21 verbal commitments in the 2018 class. He had told The Wolfpacker prior to taking his official visit that he had also heard a lot from Boston College after the coaching change in Knoxville.

He is also the fourth prospect from the Sunshine State in the class, joining defensive tackle Davontae McCrae, linebacker Calvin Hart Jr. and corner Teshuan Smith.

Rivals.com ranks NC State's class of 2018 No. 23 overall in the country.
