Daevon Robinson makes his commitment to NC State

NC State is hoping that it may have found its long-term replacement for senior do-it-all H-back Jaylen Samuels in the Pack’s offense after landing a verbal commitment from three-star Daevon Robinson from Medford (N.J.) Shawnee High.

The player was once the subject of a headline in the Burlington County Times called “Daevon Robinson hard to pin down in Shawnee offense.” He was recruited by NC State to play tight end.

Robinson, 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, first visited Raleigh in March when on his way down to Florida with his 7-on-7 team for a tournament in the Sunshine State. He had also collected offers along the way from Boston College, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Central Florida and Temple, but narrowed his choices to offers from Rutgers, Connecticut and NCSU before picking the Pack.

NC State now has nine verbal commitments in its 2018 class, and Robinson joins four-star quarterback Devin Leary from Sicklerville (N.J.) Timber Creek High as natives of New Jersey committed. Rivals.com rates Robinson the No. 34 athlete in the country and No. 17 player in New Jersey in the 2018 class.

NCSU may be poised to strike more in New Jersey. Irvington (N.J.) High teammates receiver Jasiah Provillon and defensive end Lancine Turay are two more targets high on the Wolfpack board.
