Corey Edmond officially hired

Raleigh, NC -- Corey Edmond, a four-year letterwinner at linebacker for State from 1987-90, has been named Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for Football. Edmond returns to the Wolfpack after spending the past eight years as the Associate Athletic Director/Director of Performance Enhancement at the University of Arizona.

"We are excited to welcome Corey home," said head coach Tom O'Brien. "He has an impressive resume and I know he will do a great job working with our student-athletes. He will be a great addition to our staff."

At Arizona, Edmond served as the football program's chief strength and conditioning coach, while also overseeing the efforts of other Wildcat squads. Prior to his stint in Tucson, he spent four years as the Assistant Director of Performance Enhancement at the University of Oklahoma and was on staff when the Sooners won the 2000 BCS title.

From 1996-99, the Waverly, Va., native was the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, and also served as an assistant football coach for the Mocs from 1993-95 under another NC State alum, Buddy Green.

As a player for the Wolfpack, Edmond started at inside linebacker and played in three bowl games. He was a free agent signee with the Houston Oilers in 1991, then returned to State to finish his degree in 1993.

Edmond and his wife, Laurie, have two children, Leah and Darren.
