C.J. Leslie ready for UNC challenge

A new coach and new style of play have rejuvenated NC State sophomore power forward C.J. Leslie, but tonight's game at North Carolina will be a litmus test for how much he has improved.
NC State carries a 15-5 overall record and 4-1 mark in the ACC against No. 7-ranked North Carolina (16-3, 3-1 ACC). The game will be televised at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
Leslie has improved nearly all of his statistics except for rebounds per game this season under new coach Mark Gottfried. The 6-foot-8, 209-pounder is averaging 12.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game, and is shooting 53.5 percent from the field, which is a 10.2 percent improvement.
Leslie's ability to take taller players outside and explode past them will be put to the test. He also has proven adept at drawing fouls during his time at NCSU.
"[Being quicker], that's normal on that, 99 percent of the time," Leslie said. "Whether I'm going to get it in or out [of the lane], I'm right there by the basket. That is where the offense is. Driving to the basket and either making the basket or getting fouled is a big part of my game. I'm just trying to get to the inside."
Leslie's challenge will come in going against UNC 7-0 senior center Tyler Zeller and 6-11 junior power forward John Henson, who are both effective shot-blockers inside.
"I'm just basically going to go hard and go into them," Leslie said. "I'm just trying to find other ways. I don't know how that's going to be, but I'll find out when I get into the game. I'm just trying to find a way to score."
