Notes

Florida Gulf Coast: Florida Gulf Coast could have three players from last year's Sweet 16 squad, which was dubbed "Dunk City" back in the starting lineup, but junior wing Bernard Thompson has been battling some injuries. Thompson has played in three games this season, but not since he had 20 against Furman on Nov. 15. He averaged 14.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.8 steals per game last year, and shot 38 percent from three-point land … Another player, Raleigh native Eric McKnight, is suspended for the contest. The 6-9, 210-pound McKnight originally attended Iowa State … Junior point guard Brett Comer originally committed to Florida Atlantic before settling on Florida Gulf Coast. He played in high school with former Duke star Austin Rivers, who is now with the New Orleans Pelicans. Comer has scored at least 18 points in his last three games, and shooting 46.2 percent from three-point land. He averaged 8.0 points and 6.6 assists per game last year. He had 31 assists in his three NCAA Tourney games, including 14 against San Diego State … Power forward Chase Fieler is a quality outside shooter for his position. He averaged 12.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game last year, while shooting 38.2 percent from three-point land. Fieler has increased his proficiency to 44.4 percent from beyond the arc, and poured in 30 points against Hartford Nov. 12 … Transfers are part of the fabric of the program. Redshirt junior wing Jamail Jones was Rivals.com's No. 52-ranked player coming out of Montverde (Fla.) Academy. The Atlanta native picked Marquette but averaged 1.4 points his freshman year and 1.6 his sophomore year. Jones had 17 points and eight rebounds in his first game for FGCU against Nebraska on Nov. 8 … Another transfer, redshirt junior Nate Hicks, arrived from Georgia Tech, where he was considered a sleeper signee. He had 12 points, nine rebounds and eight blocks against Eckard and 12 points and 11 boards against Ave Maria … Sophomore point guard DaJuan Graf attended Charlotte Berry High, and is averaging 5.8 points and 2.4 assists in 26.6 minutes of action per game this season as the first perimeter player off the bench … Junior Filip Cvjeticanin is the first post player off the bench, and is averaging 8.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per game this season … FGCU has three transfers sitting out this season — athletic wing Julian DeBose from Rice, guard Brian Greene Jr. from Auburn and power forward Marc-Eddy Norelia of Tulane … Florida Gulf Coast lost coach Andy Enfield to USC, but hired Kansas assistant Joe Dooley, who was East Carolina's head coach for four years (1995-1999). He also was an assistant coach under George Felton (South Carolina), Steve McClain (Wyoming), Fran Fraschilla (New Mexico) and Bill Self (Kansas).
