The Wolfpacker's ACC Power Rankings

The staff of The Wolfpacker will meet once a week for the rest of the college football season to list the ACC squads from best to worst, in our collective opinion.

The results are below:

1. No. 3 Florida State (6-0, 4-0)

Last week: Won at Clemson, 51-14
This week: Host NC State - Saturday, 3:30 p.m., ABC/ESPN2
Change in power ranking: Up 1 spot
Skinny: The Seminoles made the most of their bye week before the top five showdown with Clemson and throttled the higher-ranked team despite playing in Death Valley, 51-14. They are our first unanimous No. 1 team of the season and the whole poll was basically unanimous this week.

2. No. 9 Clemson (6-1, 4-1 ACC)

Last week: Lost to Florida State, 51-14
This week: Travel to Maryland - Saturday, 3:30 p.m., ESPN
Change in power ranking: Down 1 spot
Skinny: Clemson's first loss was an alarming one being that they were thoroughly dominated at home by FSU. They'll have a beat-up and slumping Maryland team that has been outscored 123-27 in the last three games to take their frustrations out on.

3. No. 7 Miami (6-0, 2-0)

Last week: Won at North Carolina, 27-23
This week: Host Wake Forest - Saturday, Noon, ESPNU
Change in power ranking: None
Skinny: The Hurricanes needed some luck to squeeze out a narrow win in Chapel Hill on Thursday night, but they hold steady at No. 3 on all of our ballots. A key part of their schedule comes after the Wake Forest game — they travel to FSU and then host Virginia Tech in a crucial Coastal showdown.

4. No. 16 Virginia Tech (6-1, 3-0)

Last week: Off
This week: Host Duke - Saturday, 3:30 p.m., ESPNU
Change in power ranking: None
Skinny: The Hokies might have been able to surpass unbeaten Miami in our rankings last weekend with a great performance, but they were off and stay at No. 4. Tech really has just one test left, but it's a big one — they travel to Miami on Nov. 9.

5. Georgia Tech (4-3, 3-2)

Last week: Beat Syracuse, 56-0
This week: Travel to Virginia - Saturday, 12:30 p.m., ACC Network
Change in power ranking: Up 3 spots
Skinny: Georgia Tech has been one of the most up-and-down teams in our poll and they're up this week after a huge win over Syracuse.

6. Pittsburgh (4-2, 2-2)

Last week: Beat Old Dominion, 35-24
This week: Travel to Navy - Saturday 1 p.m, CBSSN
Change in power ranking: None
Skinny: The Panthers were tied for sixth last week, and occupy the spot by themselves now. They weren't a unanimous No. 6 as two voters listed them there and the other had Boston College ranked ahead of Pitt. They're in the midst of three straight non-conference games in the next four tilts before they close out the ACC slate.

7. Boston College (3-3, 1-2)

Last week: Off
This week: Travel to North Carolina - Saturday, 3:30 p.m., RSN
Change in power ranking: Down 1 spot
Skinny: Boston College slides from tied for sixth to seventh this week as the league comes more into focus. Boston College did have a competitive game against Clemson in Death Valley in their last time out two weeks ago. Maybe that should have been an indication on Clemson?

8. Duke (5-2, 1-2)

Last week: Beat Virginia, 35-22
This week: Travel to No. 16 Virginia Tech - Saturday, 3:30 p.m., ESPNU
Change in power ranking: Up 2 spots
Skinny: Duke is one win away from securing back-to-back bowl bids for the first time in school history. The Blue Devils are on a three-game winning streak and topped Virginia on the road last week.

9. Wake Forest (4-3, 2-2)

Last week: Beat Maryland, 34-10
This week: Travel to No. 7 Miami - Saturday, Noon, ESPNU
Change in power ranking: Up 2 spots
Skinny: The Demon Deacons have won two straight league games with victories over NC State and Maryland. Can they keep climbing?

10. Maryland (5-2, 1-2)

Last week: Lost at Wake Forest, 34-10
This week: Host Clemson - Saturday, 3:30 p.m., ESPN
Change in power ranking: Down 5 spots
Skinny: The loss at Wake Forest makes them tumble down the list. In the last three outings, the Terps' only win was a one-point victory over Virginia. They got shellacked by Florida State, 63-0, and then lost 34-10 at Wake Forest.

11. Syracuse (3-4, 1-2)

Last week: Lost at Georgia Tech, 56-0
This week: Off
Change in power ranking: Down 3 spots
Skinny: Syracuse shot up three spots in our poll with their win over NC State, but fell the same distance after getting rolled up at Georgia Tech, 56-0. They'll have a chance to rise back up when they return to the field on Nov. 2 against Wake.

12. NC State (3-3, 0-3)

Last week: Off
This week: Travel to No. 3 Florida State - Saturday, 3:30 p.m., ABC/ESPN2
Change in power ranking: None
Skinny: No movement for the Wolfpack on their off week, but they are getting several key performers back from injury, including quarterback Brandon Mitchell. Will that give them a much-needed boost?

13. North Carolina (1-5, 0-3)

Last week: Lost to Miami, 27-23
This week: Host Boston College - Saturday, 3:30 p.m., RSN
Change in power ranking: None
Skinny: The Tar Heels were competitive against a top 10 Miami team came to town, but they were in position to win and couldn't finish. Do they right the ship this weekend when Boston College comes to town?

14. Virginia (2-5, 0-3)

Last week: Lost to Duke, 35-22
This week: Host Georgia Tech - Saturday, 12:30 p.m., ACC Network
Change in power ranking: None
Skinny: Not much of an explanation is needed. Virginia has lost four in a row and losing at home to Duke is not a good look.
