The Wolfpacker's ACC Power Rankings

The staff of The Wolfpacker will meet once a week for the rest of the college football season to list the ACC squads from best to worst, in our collective opinion.

The results are below:

1. No. 3 Clemson (5-0, 3-0 ACC)

Last week: Won at Syracuse, 49-14
This week: Host Boston College - Saturday, 3:30 p.m., ABC/ESPN2
Change in power ranking: None
Skinny: Another dominant win. They're still not a unanimous No. 1 from our three voters, but they're still not budging from the top spot.

2. No. 6 Florida State (5-0, 3-0)

Last week: Beat No. 25 Maryland, 63-0
This week: Off
Change in power ranking: None
Skinny: The Seminoles absolutely smashed Maryland, 63-0 last weekend in a contest that tied the national record for margin of victory over a nationally ranked team. Redshirt freshman Jameis Winston is still on fire. Their showdown at Clemson on Oct. 19 is going to be interesting and probably decide our No. 1 team in the rankings.

3. No. 13 Miami (5-0)

Last week: Beat Georgia Tech, 45-30
This week: Off
Change in power ranking: None
Skinny: Miami did fall behind on the scoreboard for the first time this year, but they still handled Georgia Tech at home. Running back Duke Johnson has tallied at least 100 all-purpose yards in eight of his last nine games and each of the last six to power the offense.

4. No. 24 Virginia Tech (5-1, 2-0)

Last week: Beat North Carolina, 27-17
This week: Host Pittsburgh - Saturday, Noon, ESPNU
Change in power ranking: Up 1 spot
Skinny: The Hokies have won each of their last nine contests against fellow Coastal Division opponents and have debuted in the national rankings for the first time in 2013.

5. Maryland (4-1, 0-1)

Last week: Lost at Florida State, 63-0
This week: Host Virginia - Saturday, 3:30 p.m., ESPNU
Change in power ranking: Down 1 spot
Skinny: Not only did the Terrapins get embarrassed by Florida State, starting quarterback C.J. Brown also went down in the game with a concussion and his status for Saturday is still up in the air.

6. Georgia Tech (3-2, 2-2)

Last week: Lost at Miami, 45-30
This week: Travel to BYU - Saturday, 7 p.m., ESPNU
Change in power ranking: Up 1 spot
Skinny: The last two games have been tough for the Yellow Jackets, who have lost to nationally ranked teams in No. 24 Virginia Tech and No. 13 Miami. They have another tough test when they travel to BYU this weekend - Tech's powerful run game, which is ranked seventh nationally with an average of 300 yards per game, will battle BYU's defense, which is ranked 24th nationally in total defense.

7. Pittsburgh (3-1, 2-1)

Last week: Off
This week: Travel to No. 24 Virginia Tech - Saturday, Noon, ESPNU
Change in power ranking: None
Skinny: Pittsburgh has won a shootout over an ACC opponent (58-55 vs. Duke) and then slugged out a defensive battle against another conference foe (14-3 vs. Virginia). They've won different ways, now we'll see if they can keep winning after a bye week.

T8. Boston College (3-2, 1-1)

Last week: Beat Army, 48-27
This week: Travel to No. 3 Clemson - Saturday, 3:30 p.m., ABC/ESPN2
Change in power ranking: Up 2 spots
Skinny: Boston College continues its weekly climb up the power rankings, two spots at a time. The Eagles boast the nation's leading rusher in Andre Williams, who averages 153.6 yards on the ground per game; he ran for 263 yards and five touchdowns last week.

T8. NC State (3-2, 0-2)

Last week: Lost at Wake Forest, 28-13
This week: Host Syracuse - Saturday, 3:30 p.m., RSN
Change in power ranking: Down 2 spots
Skinny: NC State couldn't change their recent history in Winston-Salem and have now dropped eight of the last nine, including the last six in a row, at Wake Forest. They have to get back on track this weekend at home.

10. Wake Forest (3-3, 1-2)

Last week: Beat NC State, 28-13
This week: Off
Change in power ranking: Up 4 spots
Skinny: The Demon Deacons had been our consensus last place team in each of the first two polls, but made the biggest move from last week with Saturday's win over NC State. They were listed ahead of NC State by two of our three pollsters, but there was a huge disparity, which kept them at No. 10. Two voters ranked them ninth, while the other listed them at No. 13.

T11. Syracuse (2-3, 0-1)

Last week: Lost to No. 3 Clemson, 49-14
This week: Travel to NC State - Saturday, 3:30 p.m., RSN
Change in power ranking: None
Skinny: The Orange were welcomed to the ACC with a 49-14 loss to Clemson at home and it doesn't get much easier when they travel to a mad NC State team this weekend. Their run game, which churned out 323 yards against Clemson, has powered the offense.

T11. Duke (3-2, 0-2)

Last week: Off
This week: Host Navy - Saturday, 12:30 p.m., ACC Network
Change in power ranking: Up 1 spot
Skinny: The Blue Devils didn't play last weekend, but moved up a spot thanks to some lackluster performances from other ACC programs. They'll have their hands full with Navy's potent ground attack, which is ranked tenth nationally with an average of 288.8 yards per game. Remember, Georgia Tech piled up 344 rushing yards and 38 points in its win in Durham earlier this year.

13. North Carolina (1-4, 0-2)

Last week: Lost at Virginia Tech, 27-17
This week: Off
Change in power ranking: Down 4 spots
Skinny: The Tar Heels continue their tumble although Virginia Tech isn't exactly a bad team. However, it's hard to justify ranking a one-win team much higher than this.

14. Virginia (2-3, 0-1)

Last week: Lost to Ball State, 48-27
This week: Travel to Maryland - Saturday, 3:30 p.m., ESPNU
Change in power ranking: Down 1 spot
Skinny: After a loss like the Cavaliers took at home against Ball State, there's no way they are not in the cellar.
