The numbers that mattered: CMU at NC State
2 Touchdowns scored by senior linebacker D.J. Green after he returned an interception for six in the first quarter. Green also fell on a blocked punt for a score against Boston College in 2010.
2 One of the biggest improvements on the Pack defense has been explosive plays allowed. After four games, opponents have sprung plays of 30 yards or more only twice.
2.3 Junior kicker Niklas Sade is tied for third nationally with an average of 2.3 field goals per game. He is also ranked 18th with an average of 10.3 points scored per game.
3 The Pack recorded its first interception of the year against Central Michigan and finished the contest with three.
5 Touchdowns scored by true freshman running back Matt Dayes after he added another on the ground against Central Michigan. He is ranked fourth among all freshmen position players with an average of 7.5 points scored per game.
6.5 Tackles for loss tallied by starting middle linebacker, senior Robert Caldwell. He averages 1.6 per game, which is tied for the 11th in the land. Caldwell is also tied for 37th nationally and leads the ACC with an average of 9.3 stops per contest.
6.75 The Pack's top two running backs, Dayes and sophomore Shadrach Thornton combined to run 16 times for 108 yards and two scores, good for an average yards per carry of 6.75.
7 Of the 11 different players who have recorded a rush in 2013 have totaled at least 92 yards on the ground this year. Those players include Matt Dayes (180 yards, 4 TD rushing), Bryant Shirreffs (122, 1), Tony Creecy (110, 1), Bryan Underwood (96), Pete Thomas (93, 2), Shadrach Thornton (92, 2) and Rashard Smith (92).
7 The Pack have lost seven of their last eight games at Wake Forest, which is where they play this weekend.
