NC State picks up second junior commitment

Charlotte Christian junior tight end Garrett Bradbury became NC State's second verbal commitment for the class of 2014 on Saturday following the Kay Yow Spring Game.

Bradbury recently visited the Wolfpack a week ago with Charlotte Christian wide receiver teammate Bo Hines, who was the first commitment. Hines and teammate Jeb Blazevich both tweeted congratulations to Bradbury on making the move and ending his recruitment.

"I had a timeline that I was going to go to the spring game today and then commit during the week and go back up there," Bradbury explained. "When I got back home I was just like, 'This is the place that I want to be.' So I called up Coach [Dave] Doeren and Coach [Eddie] Faulkner and told them, 'I want to be a part of the Wolfpack family.'"

Doeren is NCSU's first-year head coach, and Faulkner coaches the Pack's tight ends and fullbacks as well as coordinates special teams.

The unrated 6-foot-3, 240-pound Bradbury picked NC State over Colorado State and Charlotte. Bradbury caught 18 passes for 325 yards and four touchdowns this past season.

"I feel that I am a tight end that can block at the point of attack for them, but I can also go out on some short routes for them catch some balls, helps with play action," Bradbury said. "Whatever they need me to do, I think I can do it."

NC State gained that confidence in Bradbury after watching him go through a baseball practice this week. He showed State he had the mobility to go with his size, and thus the Wolfpack offered.

Bradbury, who said that the fact that Hines had already committed to State was a factor, knew that when the Wolfpack tendered he would probably jump on it.

"I had already visited twice and loved it up there, so I knew I wanted to go there," Bradbury confirmed.

Bradbury also plays defensive end and long snaps, but he was recruited to play tight end for NCSU.
