Coaches, players talk Wolfpack Olympics
NC State football players thought they would wrap up their final conditioning workout before spring break with some normal running activities. However, they were in for a surprise after arriving for their workouts this morning.
Eight team captains were selected and the Pack actually held an NFL Draft-like selection process, including draft pick analysis from assistant coaches, before heading out to the practice fields. Once out there, they began the first annual Wolfpack Olympics.
The team's new tradition was a multi-exercise workout where the teams competed with each other in several different activities, including barbell carries, oversize tire flips, relay races and tug-o-war. Redshirt junior quarterback Pete Thomas' team won the event.
Thomas, fellow captain Darryl Cato-Bishop, strength and conditioning coach Jason Veltkamp and head coach Dave Doeren all spoke with the media after the event, and The Wolfpacker will have several pictures and videos from the event later today.
