Measurables: At a Shrine Bowl combine, ran the 40-yard dash in 5.38 seconds and the shuttle in 4.96 seconds Had a 23.6-inch vertical leap and did 11 reps at 185 pounds on the bench press.
Stats: Helped Gray's Creek go 8-4 and average 443.9 yards rushing per game as a senior.
Ratings: Given three stars by Rivals.com Rated three stars, the No. 39 prospect from North Carolina and the No. 116 offensive tackle in the country by Scout.com Listed as a three-star recruit, the No. 105 tackle nationally and No. 43 player in North Carolina by 24/7 Sports Regarded as a three-star prospect, the No. 137 tackle in the nation and No. 51 recruit in the state by ESPN.
Honors/accomplishments: Selected to play in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas All-Star Game, where he started at right tackle Named first-team All-State by NC Preps Selected first-team 3-A All-State by both Carolina Preps and NC Preps Picked for the first-team Cape Fear Valley All-Conference squad as a junior and senior.
Recruitment: Roane came to NC State's camp in June with offers from smaller colleges North Carolina A&T and Old Dominion. After showcasing his athleticism and overall potential, NC State decided to offer Roane at the end of the day of camp on June 25, and Roane immediately accepted.
Recruiter of record: Former offensive line coach Jim Bridge.
2013 projection: Roane has the size, frame and athleticism to quickly impress, but he will need to get physically stronger if he wants to have a chance to play right away. He's more likely to redshirt next season.
