Big opportunity awaits NC State

NC State coach Mark Gottfried wants to play inside-out against short-handed Duke on Saturday at PNC Arena.

The Wolfpack could feature a steady dose of senior center Richard Howell and junior power forward C.J. Leslie against the No. 1-ranked Blue Devils, who will be playing without 6-foot-11 power forward Ryan Kelly, who injured his foot last Tuesday against Clemson.

Duke will still have ACC player of the year candidate Mason Plumlee at center, but he'll likely be joined by junior Josh Hairston and freshman Amile Jefferson at power forward.

Gottfried expects freshmen T.J. Warren, Rodney Purvis and Tyler Lewis, to be ready for the hyped up matchup, which will be televised nationally on ESPN.

Gottfried also added that seldom-used sophomore walk-on Staats Battle will be back in uniform after missing the last two games after being charged with a DWI on Jan. 1.
