Exhibition game in Spain called at halftime

Gran Canaria, Canary Islands - Concern for player safety led to NC State's exhibition game on Sunday versus Gran Canaria Select being called at halftime due to a slippery playing surface with the Wolfpack leading 55-41. Throughout the first two periods, players on both teams displayed trouble retaining their footing on the court at the Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

"There's no doubt in mind that was the right decision to make," State head coach Mark Gottfried said after the game. "You could see the players being tentative on the court and when you play that way, that's when you can get hurt."

Junior forward Scott Wood led NC State in scoring with 21 points, knocking down 5-of-7 from three-point range. The freshman duo of forward T.J Warren and guard Tyler Lewis both added double figures for the Pack with Warren tallying 16 points and Lewis posting 10.

Warren also led the team in rebounding with eight in the shortened contest. Junior post players C.J. Leslie and Jordan Vandenberg each collected five boards. Their classmate, guard Lorenzo Brown dished out a team-best eight assists.

NC State's final exhibition contest on Monday's with CB Gran Canaria U20 is scheduled for a 7 p.m. local start (2 p.m. Eastern) at the same facility, but may be moved to a new venue.
