Video interview: Russell Wilson

Former NC State quarterback Russell Wilson returned to Raleigh for the annual former players' reunion on April 20, 2012.

After leading Wisconsin to a Rose Bowl berth as a senior, the signal caller is expected to be selected in the middle rounds of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Below the video are some highlights of what Wilson had to say.

Is it a wave of emotions coming back out here?

Yeah, it's definitely exciting to come back here and see some of the former players, guys that I played with at NC State, the coaching staff and the guys that are currently playing with right now that I used to play with. I graduated from North Carolina State University, I had a good time here and it was a special time for me with everything that went on in my life and my dad passing away and all the support I had here. We won a lot of football games here, I'll never forget this place and it's been a special moment for me.

How excited are you for the next week?

I'm very excited, it's something I've been working on for my whole life. My whole entire life, I've been working to be a quarterback in the NFL. To have this opportunity coming up, it's pretty exciting. I've put a lot of hard work in on the field, a lot of hard work in film study and everything. I've been through a lot so it will be a special moment for me coming up, I can't wait to see where I'm going. I'm going to be very, very excited for that one team and hopefully the other 31 teams will be regretting it.

It's Monday Night Football, you're starting, where do you say you're from?

I've had a couple of different ideas in my head. I thought about saying Wisconsin, but I didn't feel like that was right to NC State. I thought about saying just NC State, but I didn't think that was right. I thought about maybe WolfBadger or something like that, I'll have to get some ideas off of twitter and see what people think.

Is baseball out of the question?

Yeah, I'm just focused on football, 100 percent football. There's no need to have a plan B if you have a plan A. I'm excited about football and playing in the NFL. Hopefully, I can play 12-15 years and win a couple of Super Bowls.

What NFL teams have you visited with before the draft?

I visited the Buffalo Bills, I've talked to and visited the Denver Broncos, also the Indianapolis Colts. The Philadelphia Eagles have worked me out. I've talked to a lot of teams, though. I had a lot of personal meetings at the Senior Bowl and the combine with the GMs, head coaches and offensive coordinators. The situation will be good, I'm excited for it, the Lord always takes care of it for me, he always finds a way. Wherever I am, whatever round I go in, I'm going to try to be the best quarterback in this draft. That's just my mentality every time I step out on the football field.

I know I can play the quarterback position. I'm 5-foot-11, but I'll be the best 5-11 quarterback, I know that. I do everything I can to be the best, I'm excited about the future and playing quarterback in the NFL.
